From one of America’s most celebrated playwrights, Lanford Wilson, comes the story of a small midwestern town dominated by three institutions: a cheese plant, a fundamentalist church and a community theatre. When murder strikes in Dublin, Missouri, Ruth Hoch begins her quest to find truth and honesty among the town’s jealousies, religion, greed and lies.

Dublin, Missouri is a quiet town where a typical week includes listening to Reverend Groves’ sermon, going to work at the cheese plant and maybe going to rehearsal for the community theatre’s production of Saint Joan. All of that changes when a tornado sweeps through the town and the next morning a prolific member of the community is found dead. While most of the citizens mourn the loss and consider it a freak accident, Ruth Hoch gets suspicious that foul play may have been involved. While most of the town doesn’t believe her at first, she doesn’t give up her battle. Through the interactions between the various characters, many truths are revealed (some that involve the supposed murder and others that affect their lives in different ways). Lanford Wilson’s unique storytelling has moments of humor, poignancy and surprises that prove why he is one of our most prolific playwrights.
